Bluetti RV5 Power Hub and System Components

Most RV power setups involve a tangle of separate components, wiring runs that took days to sort out, and an ongoing guessing game about what is actually happening with your battery. The Bluetti RV5 was built to solve all of that in one shot. At the center of the Bluetti RV5 system is a 5-in-1 power hub that consolidates what typically requires five separate devices into a single, compact unit designed specifically for RVs, vans, boats, and off grid mobile living.

At Off-Grid Source, we carry the full Bluetti RV5 ecosystem, from the core hub to the battery, distribution panel, and touchscreen controller.

What the Bluetti RV5 Power Hub Does

The Bluetti RV5 power hub is the brain and muscle of the entire system. In a single housing it combines:

  • A 5,000W pure sine wave inverter for running household appliances, AC units, microwaves, and electronics at 120V
  • Dual MPPT solar charge controllers supporting up to 3,600W of total solar input across two independent PV inputs
  • An alternator charger to recharge your battery bank while the vehicle engine is running
  • An AC charger accepting shore power at 120V or high speed input via 208/240V EV hookups for faster recharging
  • A 48V DC-DC step-down module providing selectable 12V or 24V DC output for onboard loads like lighting, water pumps, fans, and USB outlets

The hub uses auto-recognition design, meaning it identifies voltages and currents at startup and configures itself accordingly. Installation is cleaner and more straightforward than a traditional component-by-component build, with all major connections grouped in one place.

The Bluetti RV5 Battery: B4810

The Bluetti RV5 battery module is the B4810, a 48V 100Ah LiFePO4 unit delivering 5,120Wh of usable storage per pack. Built with automotive grade lithium iron phosphate cells, it is rated for over 6,000 charge cycles and includes self-heating technology for reliable performance down to minus 20 degrees Celsius.

The B4810 is IP65 rated for dust and moisture resistance, making it well-suited to the unpredictable conditions of mobile and off grid use. The RV5 hub and B4810 communicate via CAN bus, so the system continuously monitors state of charge, current, and battery limits to optimize charging source selection in real time.

Need more capacity? The system supports expansion up to 24 B4810 units, giving you the ability to scale storage as your energy needs grow.

Complete RV5 System Configurations

The Bluetti RV5 system is available in several configurations depending on how complete a setup you want out of the box:

  • RV5 Power Hub only for buyers integrating into an existing battery setup
  • Basic kit pairing the RV5 hub with one B4810 battery for a straightforward starting point
  • Smart kit adding the Epanel distribution board and Epad 10.1 inch touchscreen for full system monitoring, remote app control, temperature and water level sensing, and a cleaner installation overall
  • Solar kit including all of the above plus compatible flexible solar panels for a fully self-sufficient mobile power system

Who the Bluetti RV5 Is Built For

The Bluetti RV5 is a strong fit for full time RVers, serious van lifers, boaters, and off grid cabin owners who want professional grade power management without the complexity of sourcing and wiring separate components. It is UL certified, app controlled via Bluetooth and WiFi, and designed for DIY installation that does not require an electrical background to complete in a day.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many solar panels can I connect to the Bluetti RV5 power hub?

The Bluetti RV5 power hub has two independent PV inputs, each supporting up to 1,800W for a combined maximum solar input of 3,600W. Each input handles 12 to 50V at up to 50A. Because the maximum voltage per input is 50V, panels need to be wired in parallel rather than series. This is worth planning for when sizing and selecting your panels, as it affects how many you can connect per string.

Can the Bluetti RV5 charge from a vehicle alternator while driving?

Yes. The Bluetti RV5 includes a built-in alternator charger that recharges the B4810 battery bank while the engine is running. On a standard 12V alternator system, charging is capped at 600W. With a 24V alternator, the rate increases to 1,200W. For vehicles with standard 12V systems, alternator charging works best as a supplemental top-off source alongside solar rather than the primary charging method for a large battery bank.

Is the Bluetti RV5 system compatible with third party batteries?

The Bluetti RV5 system is designed and optimized to work with the Bluetti B4810 battery via CAN bus communication, which enables real-time monitoring and intelligent charge management. Third party 48V batteries may be physically connectable but will not benefit from the same level of system integration and smart management that the B4810 provides. For best performance and full feature access, Bluetti recommends using the B4810 within the RV5 ecosystem.

What is the Epad and do I need it?

The Epad is a 10.1 inch touchscreen controller that pairs with the Epanel distribution board to give you a centralized interface for monitoring and managing your entire Bluetti RV5 system. It shows real-time power flow, battery state of charge, tank levels, temperature readings, and allows remote control via the Bluetti app. It is not required for the system to function, but it significantly improves usability, especially for full-time RVers and boaters who want visibility into their power situation at a glance without pulling out a phone.

How long does it take to install the Bluetti RV5 system?

Bluetti designed the RV5 power hub specifically for straightforward DIY installation, with all major connections grouped together and an auto-recognition system that handles much of the configuration automatically. Most installations can be completed in a single day without requiring an electrical background, provided the mounting location is planned in advance and cable runs are measured correctly. The Smart and Solar kit configurations with the Epanel add some additional wiring but are still designed to be manageable for a motivated DIY installer.
