Request a Free Solar ProposalMost kits with this much storage arrive as four or five separate batteries, a rack to hold them, and a wiring job that takes an afternoon on its own. This one is two units. Two 200Ah batteries with wall and floor brackets in the box, behind a 10,000W split-phase inverter and 6,600W of solar. It's the simplest 20kWh install we sell, built for an off-grid home or a workshop where fewer connections is worth more than a bigger spec sheet. A refrigerator runs 116 hours on the batteries alone.
One thing to know before you buy, because nobody else will tell you. Each SG48200T sustains 100A, so the pair supplies about 10,240W on the DC side, which is roughly 9,400W at the outlet after inverter losses. That means the battery, not the inverter, sets the sustained ceiling here. The 20,000W surge is real and the inverter starts anything you'd expect it to, but if you plan to hold close to 10,000W continuously, the five-battery SGR-10K25S or the PowerMax-based SGR-10K32P is the honest answer.

The 6.6kW array produces roughly 26 to 33kWh per day at 4 to 5 peak sun hours. That's more than the battery holds, so on a normal day the kit refills the bank by early afternoon and runs the house off the panels for the rest of it. The array is the strongest part of this system relative to the bank, which is deliberate: it means you recover fast after a bad day.
Estimated runtimes below are from a full charge with no solar input, based on 17.5kWh delivered to AC loads after battery and inverter losses. Real numbers depend on your specific appliances and how many run at once.

Read the table from the top. Everything above the 800W row runs for a day or more, which covers what an off-grid house actually leaves switched on around the clock. The bottom rows are what the surge capacity is for: a 2-ton AC compressor and a well pump can both start without tripping anything, and neither runs continuously in real life. The two loads that ask for a decision are the electric water heater, at three hours on the bank, and anything you intend to run above 9,400W for long stretches, which is the battery limit described above rather than an inverter limit.

Two batteries instead of four - 20.48kWh in two 200Ah units rather than four 100Ah ones. Half the terminations, half the balancing cables, and no rack or cabinet to buy. Wall and floor brackets are supplied with the batteries.
10,000W continuous with 20,000W of peak - Double the rated output for motor starting, which at this size means a well pump and an AC compressor can both come on while the house is already loaded.
6,600W of solar, the largest array in the 20kWh class - Twelve 550W modules producing 26 to 33kWh a day against a 20.48kWh bank. The array outproduces the battery, so a single good day refills it and still runs the house.
140A charge current per battery - Higher than the 100A on our server-rack units, which is what lets a two-battery bank absorb a 6.6kW array without throttling in the middle of the day.
Six units in parallel - Up to 60,000W of output if the property outgrows one inverter, without replacing what you already bought.

How it ships. Kits ship freight on a pallet, which runs longer than the parcel deliveries in our shipping policy: typically 5 to 10 business days. Liftgate and pallet jack are included at no charge, so the driver gets it off the truck and onto the ground at your address. Twelve 62 lb panels and two 198 lb batteries is a lot of weight to move twice, so work out how it gets from the driveway to where it's going before delivery day and have help lined up. We send tracking as soon as it leaves the warehouse, and the freight carrier will contact you directly to schedule a delivery window. Someone needs to be there to receive it. Inspect the shipment before you sign. Damaged in transit? We cover it.
Installation. Because this is an off-grid system with no utility interconnection, permitting is often simpler than grid-tied solar. Requirements still vary by location, especially for roof-mounted arrays or permanent electrical work, so check with your local building department before installing. The UL1741 listing on the inverter is usually the first thing they'll want to see. At 10,000W, tying into an existing house panel is work for a licensed electrician.
Wire the panels as two strings of six, one on each MPPT tracker. That's what the two PV breakers and two sets of extension cable in the box are for. Six of these panels in series operate near 246V, comfortably inside the inverter's 125 to 425VDC window, and draw 14A against the tracker's 22A limit. Don't run all twelve in one string: 550W panels have a 49.7V open-circuit voltage, so twelve in series lands near 600V against a 500V ceiling. Even ten in series is too close to be safe once cold weather lifts the voltage.
One point on the battery cabling. The kit ships a single 1/0 AWG set from the breaker to the battery. Talk to us before you install: depending on your run length and where the batteries sit, we may recommend a second cable set so each battery carries half the load, which is how the four and five battery banks in this range are wired.

Why does the page say 9,400W when the inverter is 10,000W?
Because we'd rather you knew. Each SG48200T is rated for 100A of continuous discharge. Two in parallel supply 200A, which at 51.2V is 10,240W on the DC side, or about 9,400W at the outlet once the inverter takes its cut. The inverter can do 10,000W, but this bank can't feed it that indefinitely. For starting loads and short bursts it makes no practical difference, because the surge comes from a different part of the system. For genuinely sustained heavy load it does, and the 10K25S or 10K32P is the better kit.
Does this kit include everything I need to install it?
The system side, yes: the inverter, both batteries with their wall and floor brackets, all twelve panels, the DC breaker, both PV breakers, two sets of solar extension cables, the battery cable and the Z-brackets. No rack or cabinet to buy, because two batteries don't need one. What varies is the building side: rail racking for twelve large panels on a roof or ground mount, conduit, junction boxes, building wire, a critical loads panel or transfer switch, generator or shore power input wiring, and labor. Those depend on your structure and your local code, which is why we spec them per site. Tell us about your install and we'll list exactly what yours needs.
Two big batteries or four small ones?
Two is simpler to install and needs no enclosure, but each unit is 198 lbs and a failure takes out half the bank. Four or five smaller units are heavier work to wire and need a rack or cabinet, but any one of them is a two-person carry and a failure costs you a quarter or a fifth. If the batteries have to go up stairs or into a loft, the smaller units win. If they're going on a ground floor and you want the install done in a morning, two wins.
How should the panels be wired?
Two strings of six, one on each MPPT tracker, which is what the two PV breakers in the box are for. Six of these panels operate near 246V, in the middle of the inverter's 125 to 425V window, at 14A against a 22A limit. Don't run all twelve in one string: 550W panels have a 49.7V open-circuit voltage, so twelve in series lands near 600V against a 500V ceiling.
How much energy will this generate daily?
The 6.6kW array produces roughly 26 to 33kWh per day at 4 to 5 peak sun hours, which is more than the 20.48kWh bank holds. Actual output depends on your location, season, panel angle and shading.
Can I add batteries or panels later?
Yes. Adding a third SG48200T takes the bank to 30.72kWh and lifts the sustained ceiling past the inverter rating, which is the cleanest upgrade path if you find yourself running heavy. The inverter also takes 11,000W of PV against the 6,600W included. Batteries work best when they match the originals in age and state of health, so if you expect to grow the bank it's worth buying the capacity up front.
Can I install this myself?
Parts of it. Setting the inverter, running PV and making the battery connections are within reach for someone with real electrical experience, and with only two batteries the DC side is genuinely simple. At 10,000W, tying into an existing house panel is work for a licensed electrician, and mounting a 198 lb battery on a wall is a two-person job with the right fixings.
