Not Sure This Is The Right System?
Request a Free Solar ProposalA portable power station is a battery with outlets. This is a system: it wires into a building, charges off a roof, and grows when you outgrow it. It's the cheapest way into a real 48V setup, built for a weekend cabin, a first off-grid build, or 120V backup you'd rather not think about. A full 5,000W inverter, 5.12kWh of LiFePO4, and 1,200W of solar keeps a refrigerator running for more than a day with no sun, and puts that energy back the next day.
120V output only, and one night of reserve. No well pump, central AC, electric dryer, or electric water heater. Those need split phase, which starts with our 6.5kW kits. And 5.12kWh covers a night of light loads, not a cloudy week. If reserve is what you're after on the same inverter, the SGR-5KE doubles the battery and more than doubles the array.

Three common load profiles, with how long this kit carries each one from a full battery and no sun. This kit is built for the essential row, where a day of sun replaces what the night used. The inverter will start and run all three without complaint. What limits you is the battery, and that's the single most useful thing to understand about this kit.
| Setup | Continuous draw | Runs for |
| Essential. Refrigerator, LED lighting, Starlink or router, phone and laptop charging. | ~500W | ~8 hours |
| Cabin household. All of the above plus a chest freezer, ceiling fans, a TV, microwave bursts. | ~1,000W | ~4 hours |
| Working. All of the above plus power tools or a window AC unit running. | ~1,500W | ~2 hours |
The 1.2kW array produces roughly 5 to 6kWh per day at 4 to 5 peak sun hours. That covers a light cabin day and refills the battery, so the system lives day to day rather than banking reserve.
Estimated runtimes below are from a full charge with no solar input, based on 4.3kWh delivered to AC loads. Real numbers depend on your specific appliances and how many run at once.
| Load | Draw | Runtime on battery alone |
| Chest freezer | ~100W avg | ~43 hours |
| Refrigerator | ~150W avg | ~28 hours |
| Cabin essentials | ~250W avg | ~17 hours |
| Lights, electronics, internet | ~300W | ~14 hours |
| Full household (essentials only) | ~800W avg | ~5 hours |
| Window AC unit | ~900W | ~4 hours |
| Microwave | 1,000W | ~4 hours cumulative |
| Power tools (intermittent) | ~1,200W | ~3 hours |

A 5,000W inverter on an entry kit - The same SPH5048P that runs our larger 120V systems. It starts and runs anything a 120V circuit can carry, so the ceiling on this system is the battery and the array, and you can grow both.
Room for more than four times the solar - The kit ships 1,200W and the inverter accepts 5,500W. That's the cheapest upgrade path in the range: add panels first, and the same box keeps working.
Wall-mounted battery, no rack to buy - The PowerWall unit hangs on a wall. There's no server rack or enclosed cabinet to source separately, which matters more on an entry kit than anywhere else in the range.
Wi-Fi model inverter - This kit ships the Wi-Fi version of the SPH5048P, so production, battery state, and system status can be monitored from your phone through the SunGold app.
7,000+ cycle battery - Rated past 7,000 cycles with an integrated BMS protecting against overcharge, deep discharge, and short circuit. At one cycle a day that's nearly twenty years before the rated endpoint.
5,000W pure sine wave - Clean enough for laptops, medical equipment, and variable-speed tools, not just resistive loads.

Every major system component, matched and ready to wire together.

How it ships. Ships freight as a single shipment. Liftgate and pallet jack included at no charge, so the driver gets it off the truck and onto the ground at your address. Typical delivery is 5 to 10 business days. We send tracking as soon as it leaves the warehouse, and the freight carrier will contact you directly to schedule a delivery window. Someone needs to be there to receive it. Inspect the shipment before you sign. Damaged in transit? We cover it.
Installation. Because this is an off-grid system with no utility interconnection, permitting is often simpler than grid-tied solar. Requirements still vary by location, especially for roof-mounted arrays or permanent electrical work, so check with your local building department before installing. This is the most approachable kit in the range for a first-time installer: one battery, one inverter, six panels. Wire all six panels as a single series string. That puts the array at roughly 261V open circuit, comfortably inside the inverter's 120 to 450VDC tracking window, where splitting them into two strings of three would sit right on the low edge of it. You'll still want real electrical experience before wiring a 48V battery.
All three of these are 120V systems. What separates them is how much you can run at once, and for how long.
| Kit | What changes | Who it's for |
| SGKT-3PRO. 3kW, 800W solar, 5.12kWh, 24V | Same storage, a smaller inverter and a smaller array. Sustained output is capped well below 3,000W by the battery. | Very light loads, RVs, and the tightest budgets. |
| This kit. 5kW, 1.2kW solar, 5.12kWh, 120V | A full-size inverter on entry-size storage. Runs anything 120V, for a night. | Weekend cabins, outage backup, first builds with room to grow. |
| SGR-5KE. 5kW, 2.7kW solar, 10.24kWh, 120V | Same inverter, double the battery, more than double the array on bifacial panels. | Full-time 120V living, and anyone who wants reserve rather than day to day. |
Before you order, it's worth a short call. Our sales engineers will confirm the kit is sized against your actual loads, check whether the battery covers the hours you need, and put together the list of site-specific parts your install will need. Call 877-556-3347.

Does this kit include everything I need to install it?
It includes the major system components: the inverter, the battery, all six panels, the DC and PV breakers, solar extension cables, battery cable, Z-brackets, and the manuals. What varies is the mounting and building side of the job, and that's site by site. Depending on your site that typically means wall mounting hardware for the battery, rail racking if you're mounting on a shingle roof or the ground, conduit, junction boxes, building wire, a critical loads panel or transfer switch, and labor. Those depend on your structure and your local code, which is why we spec them per site rather than boxing a set that might not fit. Tell us about your install and we'll list exactly what yours needs.
Can it run 240V appliances?
No. This is a 120V-only system. Well pumps, central AC, electric dryers, and electric water heaters need split-phase power, which starts with our 6.5kW kits.
How is this different from the SGR-5KE?
Same 5,000W inverter and the same 120V limit. The SGR-5KE doubles the battery to 10.24kWh and carries 2,700W of bifacial solar against 1,200W here. If your problem is running out overnight rather than running out of inverter, that's the one to look at.
How much energy will this generate daily?
The 1.2kW array produces roughly 5 to 6kWh per day at 4 to 5 peak sun hours. Actual output depends on your location, season, panel angle, and shading.
Can I add more panels or batteries later?
Yes, and this is the kit where it matters most. The inverter accepts 5,500W of solar against the 1,200W included, so the array can grow more than four times over. Battery capacity expands by adding units alongside the first.
Can I install this myself?
Many customers do, and this is the simplest kit in the range to start with. The line worth drawing is where the system meets your building: setting the inverter, running PV, and wiring the battery are within reach for someone with real electrical experience, while tying into an existing house panel is work for a licensed electrician.
Is LiFePO4 safe?
It's the safest widely available lithium chemistry, with strong thermal stability, long service life, and minimal maintenance. The battery includes BMS protection against overcharge, deep discharge, and short circuit.
